After the latest redesign, Facebook has gotten a wee bit annoying. It plays a sound every time you receive a notification. Earlier, this sound used to be played only during chats, but now you get it for every Facebook notification. The annoyance, surprisingly, is very simple to turn off!

To change the settings, simply click on the Lever icon on the top right corner of Facebook and select “Account Settings”. Select Notifications in the left side navigation and uncheck the “Play Sound” option and click Save Changes.

You will no longer receive sound alerts for your notifications.
